CMTS-06 Counseling Theories and Approaches

 

This 45-hour course will discuss the therapeutic relationship that will help the client move to the next needed stage or goal. Many different theories, models and strategies will be discussed, reviewed and analyzed. Students in this class will be asked to find some techniques that work well for their style or personality. They will also be encouraged to get out of their comfort zone to try other techniques and practice them with the goal of perfecting their skills. It will cover group dynamics, counseling skills, team purposes and other aspects of group, individual and family counseling. There will be a heavy emphasis on TAP 21 Knowledge skills and attitudes of competence in this course.
